This inclusive creative dance class adapts to various mobility levels and sensory needs. Dance skills and concepts are explored through playful prompts and activities in a welcoming, non-judgmental space. If a child benefits from one-to-one support, the childs parents/support persons are welcome to participate to help ensure a positive experience. Led in-tandem with the National accessArts Centre by a teacher with lived experience, kids will experience:
narrative and thematic movement using props and small handheld instruments
fundamental gross motor movements
mind-body connection through dance, such as strength, coordination, balance, and rhythm
social connections and exploring emotional expression through movement
Short, supervised, mid-class break to be utilized by participants as needed
Prerequisite: None
Please bring: Comfortable and moveable clothing, dancing shoes or bare feet, water, any sensory items your dancer may need (ex. noise-cancelling headphones, a crunchy snack)
Forms/waivers: Access Needs Form (for all dancers) - information that will help us tailor programming to the children in the studio
